Smartgraft

If you’ve been losing your hair, you may have looked into various hair replacement options, from wigs to transplant procedures, only to remain unconvinced that you’ve found your solution. Fortunately, you’re no longer limited to the traditional invasive techniques commonly used to move hair follicles from one part of the scalp to another. Here at Clearskin Institute of Laser Aesthetics, we’re proud to offer the SmartGraft methods of hair transplantation. This advanced, minimally-invasive technique can help you enjoy long-term results with less discomfort and quicker recovery times.

Smartgraft:
The Smart Approach to Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation corrects this problem by relocating active follicles to replace the inactive ones. The traditional method of hair transplantation, follicular unit transplantation (FUT), involves removing entire strips of skin from the scalp (in an area that will be covered by hair from neighboring scalp tissue). The skin is divided up into many tiny units of “plugs,” which are then punched into the bald areas of the scalp so that new hair can grow normally in these areas. Unfortunately, this procedure leaves large scars, can cause significant postoperative discomfort, and may produce an unnatural-looking final result.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Transplantation

SmartGraft features a newer transplantation technique known as follicular unit extraction. In FUE, individual follicles are taken from the scalp and moved to their new location one at a time, using a technique called micropunching. The SmartGraft approach offers several major advantages over FUT procedures, including:

Less Scarring

The instruments used leave tiny, almost imperceptible scars instead of the larger, more obvious scars created by FUT.

Less Discomfort

Due to its minimally invasive nature, SmartGraft causes much less postoperative discomfort than traditional transplantation surgery. You should also experience much faster recuperation with less risk of post-procedure side effects or complications.

The Ultimate in Natural-Looking Results

The precise, individual implantation of individual follicles allows hair to grow in a natural-looking pattern, avoiding the “plug” look often associated with other methods.

Ease & Convenience

You can have your entire transplant done in a few hours as an outpatient procedure.

What to Expect From Smartgraft

Your doctor will begin the SmartGraft procedure by shaving a large area of the back of your head. This exposed stretch of scalp will provide the donor follicles. The doctor will then use a micropunch tool to extract the individual follicles. The area to receive these follicles will undergo a series of tiny incisions. The follicles are then implanted beneath the skin through these incisions.

Maximum hair regrowth may take three or four months. A few hairs may fall, but don’t be alarmed; this is normal.
You’ll receive detailed instructions on how to care for your scalp during the recuperation process. For instance, you may need to wear a bandage and avoid washing your hair for the first few days after the procedure. You may also be told when you can safely resume brushing/combing your hair, wearing hats, and engaging in strenuous exercise. Follow these guidelines closely to ensure optimal results.
